Clinical Psychologist

Simone Sharah

I have worked with parents, infants and children in the pre and post natal period for many years. I have completed specialised training to work with parents and infants as well as with children, and their families. I have masters level qualifications in clinical psychology and family therapy. I am a registered play therapist and have completed specialist training in infant mental health, such as the Circle of Security program and an infant observation.

In my work I draw on many frameworks, including attachment-based and mindfulness models, and aim to help build a safe, trusting, reliable and emotionally in tune relationship between children and parents. I aim to support parents in the peri natal period, particularly around low mood, anxiety, trauma, and expectations around pregnancy, parenthood and loss. I believe it is important parents feel understood, supported, and as though someone is in tune with their needs.

I have worked with people working toward pregnancy and parenthood, such as undergoing IVF, as well as those who have experienced trauma related to parenthood, such as birth trauma, the loss of a pregnancy, baby or child.

In relation to children, I work in a play-based way to help understand an infant and child's inner world, as young children play about what is going on for them, while older children and adults talk about it. I enjoy working with parents to also understand a child's inner world through a play-based model.
