Joanna is a compassionate registered psychologist who enjoys supporting adults to cope with challenging life situations, stress and emotional difficulties. Joanna has experience working with individuals across the lifespan with concerns including anxiety and depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, health conditions, adjustment difficulties, body-image and eating disturbances. Joanna has a particular interest in supporting women during the perinatal period.
She is a mother of two and has a lived experience of the complex emotional nature of the motherhood transition. The perinatal period may bring with it multiple hopes and joys, but it may also present numerous challenges including low mood, worry, isolation, body image and identity shift, sleep disturbance, work and relationship difficulties, grief and loss.
Joanna works collaboratively with clients using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behaviour therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. She supports clients to better understand themselves and their challenges and works with them to develop strategies to improve their wellbeing. Joanna adopts a trauma-informed, weight-neutral and strengths-based perspective.
