General Psychologist
Bek Izzard
My approach in sessions is built on a belief in the important of compassionate and safe relationships. Through this relational safety I hope to provide you space to navigate what can be at times to most significant life transitions we can face as humans and one of the most vulnerable periods as well.
I enjoying blending different evidence based approaches to find the best fit to match you needs, individuality, and capacity levels. Examples of interventions I use include: CBT, ACT, Schema therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Compassion Focused Therapy and attachment science (inc. Circle of Security).
I enjoy working with parents adjusting to be new parents, working on their coping and expectations. I also enjoy providing ongoing support to include building secure attachement and guidance around problem solving the inevitable challenges that arise.
I also have experience working with those naviagting pregnancy loss and fertility challenges (including IVF) and feel priviledged to be with a parent navigating the grief that comes with that loss and adversity.
A further area I have training and experience in is supporting parents who are neurodivergent (Autistic and ADHD) and/or may be parenting neurodivergent child/ren. I have a particular passion for supporting parents in breaking down internatlised ableism and perfectionism to create more sustainable family rhthyms.
