Mayio Konidaris PhD

Mental Health Social Worker (PhD): Telehealth

Mayio has been a practicing social worker and family therapist for over 30 years predominantly in the public mental health field with individuals and families across all age groups. As a highly experienced accredited mental health social worker, Mayio commenced private practice almost 18 years ago where she supported mental health carers, those with lived experience and Metropolitan Fire Brigade employees, and their families.

Mayio is particularly passionate about early intervention mental health support, which is reflected in her background of having worked in child and youth mental health services, in both clinical and supervisory roles. Mayio's clinical background and her own personal experience of raising two daughters has deepened her knowledge and understanding around the importance of good mental health within families at all stages of development but particularly in the early years.

Mayio has also recently completed her PhD, where she undertook research exploring the impact of cultural humility training in both mental health practice and in social work education. She has specialist interest and expertise in working with individuals, couples and families dealing with issues of grief and loss, identity issues, particularly in response to the impact of migration.

Mayio has also worked as a Family Court Consultant conducting parenting assessments, university counselling and in more recent years consolidated her knowledge and experience as a university lecturer, both in the UK and in Melbourne.

Mayio has completed perinatal specific training with the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) and Seleni Institute.
