Dr Ashima Soni

Clinical Psychologist: Telehealth

Ashima has a PhD in Psychology and is trained internationally and within Australia and has over 12 years’ experience with children, adolescents, and adults. She is a registered Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She has an interest in helping people with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and stress management to overcome challenges and build resilience. She also has excellent report writing skills.

Ashima has significant interest and experience working with clients from culturally and linguistic diverse backgrounds (CALD) experiencing family violence on temporary visas and with presentations, such as depression, stress, anxiety, and PTSD. Her experience in the Domestic Violence sector has also provided her with another perspective on the impact of violence and trauma on families.

Ashima is also passionate about supporting women during their challenging transition to parenthood or those experiencing emotional stress during pregnancy. She has worked in a variety of settings including the Family Violence Sector, has taught at Monash and RMIT University, and worked at the not-for-profit sector. She has a varied repertoire of employment experience in reputed places in Australia and in India and has been presenting research papers at National and International conferences.

Ashima has a caring, supportive, and collaborative approach to ensure clients are comfortable, meet their goals, and sustain improvements after therapy has finished. She works collaboratively with her clients to develop and achieve identified therapeutic goals and utilise a range of evidence-based therapeutic treatments and has extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Therapeutic Counselling. Besides, English she is also proficient in Hindi and Panjabi languages.

Ashima has completed perinatal specific training with the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) and Seleni Institute.
