Joanne Brassington

Clinical Psychologist | Mums Matter Psychology

Jo is a warm, compassionate and dedicated psychologist who is passionate about supporting women and families through the challenges and transitions of pregnancy, early parenthood and beyond.

Jo understands that becoming a parent can bring a wide range of emotions and experiences. Alongside the joy and excitement, there can be moments of uncertainty, overwhelm, anxiety and self-doubt. She is committed to providing a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where women feel heard, understood and empowered to navigate these experiences.

Jo has experience working with individuals experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, low mood, grief and loss, and the challenges associated with adjusting to significant life changes. Her work within the perinatal and infant mental health space has strengthened her passion for supporting mothers and families as they navigate the complexities of parenthood and develop confidence in their parenting journey.

Jo takes a collaborative, individualised and evidence-based approach to therapy, drawing on therapeutic frameworks including CBT, ACT, Circle of Security, mindfulness and self-compassion. She works alongside clients to develop a deeper understanding of their experiences, build practical coping strategies and reconnect with their values and personal strengths.

Jo believes that every mother’s experience is unique and that seeking support is a meaningful step towards wellbeing.
