General Psychologist

Brie Beard

I'm Brie, a Registered Psychologist, with a curiosity and respect for what happens to each of us when we become parents.

My focus is often on understanding the adjustment: the identity shifts, the changed relationships, the mental load, the version of yourself you thought you'd be versus the one you actually are. I also work with people trying to conceive, and with those carrying pregnancy loss or grief, where hope and loss can sit side by side and often go unspoken.

I'm interested in the way old stories resurface in parenthood, often in surprising forms. Things we thought were long settled can show up again in how we respond to our children, our partners and ourselves. Together we can get curious about where those patterns came from and what they're doing now.

I work in much the same way with people at any stage of life, not only parents. The questions tend to be similar: what shaped this, what keeps it going, and what might help.

Part of my work is helping you get to know your own mental health landscape, so you can notice what tips you over, what steadies you, and what you need. I draw on CBT, DBT, ACT and attachment-informed approaches, but mostly I follow your lead.
