Mental Health Social Worker: Telehealth

Demelza is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She has a Masters in Clinical Family Therapy, and has worked with both individuals and families, across a number of public and private sectors, in Victoria and Queensland.

Demelza has supported people with issues including anxiety; depression; family/parenting issues and adjustment; relationship issues; grief and loss; reproductive loss; trauma; conflict and conflict resolution; family separation; family violence; life transitions; suicidal idealisation; hospital and carer support; and employment related issues.

As a systemically trained family therapist, Demelza has a relational focus in her work, and as such she places particular emphasis on the Client/Therapist relationship. She has been described as a warm, caring and nurturing practitioner, who likes to work collaboratively with her clients. Demelza uses a range of Focused Psychological Strategies, in combination with Social Work and Family Therapy theories, aiming to facilitate both positive and realistic change, within a supported environment. She understands the transition to parenthood, can generate a range of emotions, and for some it can be a time, in which further support might be sought.

Demelza has completed perinatal specific training with the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE), and the Maternal Mental Health Intensive course through the Selini Institute.
